Hope in the Midst of Addiction

Southeast Asia - Equipped Saline Process® Participant

At our hospital, I am part of a newly developed Support Team that focuses on speaking with admitted patients when it comes to spiritual or psychological matters.

Recently, a young man was admitted for an infection, and the Support Team discovered that he was desperately seeking to be free from a drug addiction. His addiction had progressed to the point that it was adversely affecting his marriage, his children, and his business.

As we spoke to him during our daily rounds, we drew on lessons from the Saline Process®, speaking with permission, sensitivity, and respect. Eventually we had the opportunity to pray with him. We were able to comfort him with a Truth Prescription by sharing the biblical story of Jesus healing a paralytic.

He was very grateful for our encouragement, and we convinced him to follow up with a psychiatrist after his hospital release to undergo addiction treatment.

A little while later, I followed up with him on a phone call to see how he was doing. When I introduced myself, he was very happy to hear from me. He told me, “Because of your prayers, I don’t have any desire to use drugs anymore.”

I’m praising God for this amazing opportunity to provide hope for a man fighting addiction, and for changing his desires!

I’m continuing to pray that he and his family would fully commit their lives to Jesus, and that the seeds planted through prayers in the hospital would bear even more fruit.
