Treasures in Heaven

Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy,

and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven…

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Matthew 6:19–21 NIV

Because the Beatitudes have reoriented my heart, Jesus now challenges me to examine where I place my hope and security.

Jesus knows that my heart always follows my treasure—and He wants my heart to be free. Earthly treasures aren’t wrong—but they’re fragile. They rust, fade, break, or get stolen. Jesus invites me to something better: to invest my life in what lasts. When I give generously, love sacrificially, and serve faithfully, I’m storing up treasures that moths and thieves can never touch. It’s not about how much I have, but where my heart is.
Being salt and light means living with eternal perspective in a world obsessed with temporary gain. It means holding things loosely and trusting God completely. When I choose to treasure the things of heaven—God’s presence, people, truth, and grace—I find a joy and peace the world can’t offer.

What if...my daily decisions reflected not just what I value now, but what I’ll value forever? What if my checkbook, calendar, and choices all pointed toward a greater kingdom? That’s the kind of treasure Jesus invites me to pursue. Let’s store it up—together.

Sharing the journey with you,
