Tact

…Daniel spoke to him with wisdom and tact. Daniel 2:14b

Tact—that wonderful ability to tell the truth sensitively and with others in mind. What a lost art in today’s world!

When I am tactless, my conversations go poorly. But, when I consider the feelings of others and share the truth in love, my words can be received. Wise people in my life have told me that to be tactful I must:

  • Think before I speak,

  • Praise in public and rebuke in private, and

  • Be kind.

Daniel was wise beyond his years, yet it was his tactful sharing of that wisdom which spared his life and exalted him before the King of Babylon.

Will you join me this week in practicing the lost art of tactfulness?

Sharing the journey with you,

Bob Snyder
