Mourning
The Beatitudes are windows into the character to which Jesus calls me.
Mourning may seem an unusual step, but it's exactly where Jesus leads next.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. – Matthew 5:4
Mourning, as Jesus describes it, is not just about grieving personal loss. It’s a deep sorrow over the brokenness of my own heart and the world around me. To mourn is to see the reality of sin — in myself and others — and to realize what God feels about it. Jesus Himself was "a man of sorrows, acquainted with grief" (Isaiah 53:3). He fully entered into the pain of this world.
When I mourn in this way, I am not running from pain or pretending everything is fine — I am allowing my heart to break over what breaks God's heart. In that place of mourning, Jesus promises not just sympathy, but comfort — the deep comfort only He can give.
The truest kind of blessing is living in sync with God’s heart.
What if... We let our hearts slow down long enough to feel what God feels — mourn what’s broken, in us and around us, and trust Jesus to meet us there with comfort and hope?
Lets do it together.
Sharing the journey with you,
