Living for God Alone
Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do,
you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. Matthew 6:1 NIV
Because Matthew 5 has formed in me a new heart for righteousness, Jesus now turns to a deeper question: Why am I doing what I’m doing?
In chapter 6, He gently warns me—not about doing good things but about doing them to be noticed. It’s possible to live outwardly right but inwardly hungry for human approval. But Jesus offers something better: a quiet, secure, unseen life with the Father. When I give, pray, fast, and serve with my eyes fixed on Him, there’s a joy and reward that no one else can touch—because it comes from God Himself.
Being salt and light isn’t about shining for applause—it’s about glowing with quiet faithfulness. In a noisy, attention-hungry world, Jesus calls me into the secret place, where character is shaped and intimacy with the Father grows.
What if…my greatest spiritual victories happened when no one else was looking—except God? What if I stopped striving to be seen and started resting in being known? That’s the invitation of Matthew 6. Let’s live for the Father’s eyes—together.
Sharing the journey with you,
