In Secret

Because Matthew 5 has taught me to live with a changed heart, Jesus now shows me a new way to give —from a heart of love, not for praise.

But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

Matthew 6:3-4 NIV

Why? Because my Father sees. And He loves a cheerful giver who trusts that His reward is enough.

Being salt and light doesn’t mean being flashy; it means being faithful. When I give quietly, freely, and       joyfully, I’m reflecting the generosity of the One who gave. He knows how easily I can slip into doing good things for the wrong reasons. Giving to be noticed, even subtly, turns a holy act into a personal performance. But Jesus points me toward something better. Secret giving. Quiet generosity. A life that blesses others without needing a spotlight.

What if... my giving was less about impressing others and more about delighting the Father? What if I found joy in simply being part of God’s provision for someone else—without needing recognition? That’s the kind of giving Jesus celebrates. Let’s give like that—together.

Sharing the journey with you,

Bob Snyder
