Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. So when he heard that Lazaras was sick, he stayed where he was two more days… — John 11:5-6 NIV
When Jesus heard that Lazaras was sick, He did not hurry to heal him. Instead, He stayed put for two more days. When I am waiting on God, I usually think of the delay as neglect. How easy it is to forget that His timing is always right and is rooted in His love.
Martha and Mary saw a closed door. However, Jesus saw what He was about to do for them by raising Lazaras from the dead. I have spent years in emergency medicine, knowing that usually nothing is happening in the waiting room. But God's waiting room is different. He is always at work in ways I cannot see.
What if…we treated our current wait as a place where God is preparing us for his purposes to be accomplished. What if we trust the love behind the delay before we understand the reason for it?
Prayer: Lord, You know what each of us are waiting for. We confess we have doubted You. Help us trust You in the delay. Amen.
Let's do this together.
