Entering the Narrow Gate

Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

Matthew 7:13-14 NIV

Because the Beatitudes have reoriented my desires toward God’s kingdom, Jesus now calls me to make a clear choice.

The wide road is easy, popular, and comfortable—but it doesn’t lead to life. The narrow road, by contrast, is formed by surrender, humility, obedience, and trust. It’s not the obvious path, and it’s not the crowded one. But it’s the only one that leads to true joy and eternal life. Jesus isn’t trying to scare me—He’s lovingly telling the truth. The broad road is filled with shortcuts and self-interest. The narrow road is where transformation happens, and where Jesus walks with me step by step.

Being salt and light means I’m willing to walk a different road—even if it’s harder, even if I walk it mostly unseen. It means I follow Jesus when it’s costly, not just convenient.

What if...I measured my days not by ease or success, but by faithfulness to the One who called me? What if walking the narrow road became my greatest joy—because it means I’m walking with Him? That’s the path to life. Let’s walk it—together.

Sharing the journey with you,

Bob Snyder
