Allowing Lent to Reshape Life

Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.

Matthew 7:24 NIV

Because Lent invites me to slow down, pay attention, and return again to what matters most, I am drawn to the words of Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount.

These chapters are not merely teachings to admire — they are an invitation to a completely different way of living. Here, Jesus describes the kind of heart God blesses, the kind of love that transforms relationships, and the kind of trust that frees us from fear and striving. Lent becomes a sacred opportunity not just to reflect on His words, but to allow them to examine me, reshape me, and quietly reorder my life. This is not a call to try harder, but to lean closer. Not a season of religious effort, but of deeper surrender. Jesus ends the sermon with a simple and piercing truth: the difference between a life that stands and a life that collapses is not hearing — but doing.

What if…these forty days became more than a tradition? What if I allowed the words of Jesus to become the foundation beneath my attitudes, my reactions, my priorities, and my love? What if the Sermon on the Mount became not just something I study, but the very shape of my life?

Let's walk this Lenten journey together.
