Light Through the Cracks of Brokenness

Tough times test what's really inside this jar of clay I call my body. What I believe about God and my trust in Him is revealed by what flows out of me...or doesn't flow out of me in times of crisis. The apostle Paul knew this about me when he spoke of God making His light shine in us.

We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.

  • We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed.
  • We are perplexed, but not driven to despair.
  • We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God.
  • We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed.

Through suffering, our bodies continue to share in the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be seen in our bodies. 2 Corinthians 4:7-10 NLT

Do you, like me, have some cracks in your fragile clay jar? Brokenness? I must constantly remind myself that the light of Jesus shines most brightly through the jagged edges of my brokenness. Join me is thanking God for the privilege of shining His light during difficult times.

Sharing the journey with you,

Bob Snyder
