Dancing to the Melody!
When I was young, flowing back and forth on the dance floor was discouraged by my faith culture. Although dancing is no longer an issue today, I often find myself not participating—sitting at a table watching others dance. Ask my wife who sits with me.
A recent anonymous quote gave me a new perspective to the word "dance".
“Hope is listening to the melody of God's word for the future,
Faith is dancing to that melody in the present.”
Faith calls for participation now. The disciples discovered this in the midst of a storm. Waking Jesus, they said:
“Master, Master, we’re going to drown!” He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm. “Where is your faith?” he asked his disciples. (Luke 8:24-25a)
The disciples had heard the melody of God's word for the future yet had failed to dance in faith at the moment. I, at times, find myself worrying about the future instead of participating by faith in the present, trusting the promises of God.
This week, will you join me in dancing to the celestial strains provided by the Creator. Let us not just look at the musical notes, for "dancing" produces an eternal melody that makes our feet swift and graceful.
Sharing the journey with you,
