A 10-Year Faith Journey
South Asia - Equipped Saline Process™ Participant
I work as a staff nurse in a hospital in South Asia. I would like to share a story of about 10 years with one patient’s family, which taught me that the journey to faith in Christ is often a long one.
There was a woman who came to our hospital every month to collect medicine for her husband. Whenever she came, I would greet her with a smile. I did not know much about her personal life, but I had a desire in my heart to know her and to share Jesus with her.
Once, I tried to talk to her about God, but she quickly stopped me and said, "No madam, please don’t talk about God. God has done nothing good in my life.” Though she rejected the conversation, I did not stop caring for her. Instead, I began praying for her regularly.
Month after month she continued coming to the hospital, and we developed a friendship over the years. I told her I was praying for her, and she did not reject it. With her permission, I started sending her devotionals and testimonies of people who were helped by prayer.
Recently, the situation changed. Her husband became seriously ill and bedridden. When she came to the hospital, she was heartbroken. She said, "Madam, my husband is seriously ill now. Please come to our home and pray for him."
I had known her for 10 years, and she did not want to talk about God with me. However, at that moment, I realized that God had opened the door.
After much prayer, my husband and I went to her house. Besides her husband, her daughter was living with them. We spent some time with the family, singing a few worship songs. Afterwards, I told them about Jesus — that He has authority to calm the storms in our lives, to forgive our sins, and to heal our diseases.
As the Saline Process™ taught me, I read a few passages from the Bible as truth prescriptions. Since Good Friday was coming up, I also shared the Gospel message. I explained why Jesus came into this world, how He died on the cross for our sins, and how He rose again from the dead.
That day, the woman and her daughter opened their hearts to Jesus. My friend also told me more about her life and childhood struggles that had made her angry toward God.
For me, this experience reminded me that coming to faith in Christ is a process which takes time. We cultivate the soil of their hearts through kindness, friendship, and prayer, sowing seeds of truth with the Word. However, God is the one who changes hearts. Our role is to plant seeds and wait patiently for God’s timing.
