Mercy

The Beatitudes are windows into the character to which Jesus calls me.

After shaping a hungry heart, Jesus moves to shape a heart of mercy.

Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. – Matthew 5:7

Mercy grows when I recognize just how much mercy I've received. Being "merciful" means I see others through eyes softened by grace. It's not about excusing wrong but about carrying a heart that leans toward forgiveness, kindness, and understanding, even when it would be easier to judge.

As Christ reshapes my heart, my hard edges begin to soften. I stop keeping score. I listen more. I hurt with those who hurt. Mercy becomes my melody, not my obligation — a free-flowing river from a heart that has been flooded by God's goodness.

Oh, the sweet relief of letting grace flow freely — both in and through me.

What if...I asked Jesus today to help me extend mercy the way I long to receive it — generously, joyfully, and without keeping count? Let’s do it together.
