Do Not Judge

Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged…

Matthew 7:1-2 NIV

Because the Beatitudes have humbled me to see my own need for mercy, Jesus now warns me not to become a fault-finder. It’s easy to notice the speck in someone else’s eye—especially when I’ve stopped tending to the plank in my own.

Jesus isn’t telling me to ignore sin or avoid discernment—He’s calling me to start with humility.

A judgmental spirit divides, shames, and distorts. But a heart shaped by grace sees others through the lens of God’s mercy, not through self-righteous eyes. Jesus wants me to deal honestly with my own heart first—and then, with compassion and clarity, help others grow too. This is hard for me!

Being salt and light means offering others the same grace I’ve received. It means leading with mercy, not measurement. And it means remembering that my words and attitudes shape how people see.

Jesus in me.

What if... I became slower to judge and quicker to understand? What if I looked in the mirror before I looked around the room? That’s the kind of humility that brings healing and draws people toward the heart of God. Let’s love like that—together.
