All-Knowing Bob

“Who can fathom the Spirit of the LORD, or instruct the LORD as his counselor? Whom did the LORD consult to enlighten him, and who taught him the right way? Who was it that taught him knowledge, or showed him the path of understanding?” Isaiah 40:13-14

I often think that I know what God is doing. Soon after arriving in Budapest, a Greek physician asked me if I knew why God had called me to Hungary. With confidence, I told him, “Yes.” But the man was unconvinced. How can a feeble mind like mine possibly understand the ways of our great God? The Greek physician rebuked my arrogance by saying, “God has plans for you that are beyond your comprehension. Submit to God’s plans easy and hard.

When I assume that I know what God is doing, I reduce Him to my limited mind. In doing so, I disregard His character, His omniscience, and His sovereignty. He is the one in charge, not me!

Will you join me this week in humbly acknowledging the all-knowing nature of our God?

Sharing the journey with you,

Bob Snyder
