Warning Labels

Do you get annoyed at warning labels—those labels attached to products which are intended to warn me about potential risks? Why do I get annoyed when they are there for my own good? I guess I just don’t like people telling me what to do and don’t do?

Does the same attitude occur in my spiritual life? There are many warnings that are so important for my growth and maturity as I follow Jesus. Do I bristle at God when He warns me? Here is a warning.

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves.
Do what it says. James 1:22 NIV

I can ignore warnings such as this, but I do so at the peril of being deceived and of harming my relationship with God. Warnings are meant for my good!

Will you join me in reading and heeding the warnings lovingly given to us in God’s word?

Sharing the journey with you,

Bob Snyder
