Wear my Skin

Wear My Skin

Years ago while eating breakfast with a Christian healthcare worker from a restricted country in the Far East, I asked how I might encourage or help him. My sincere effort to encourage, however, was clothed in ignorance and naivete.

His response caught me off guard. “Wear my skin” was his gentle but firm reply. “Live with me, eat with me, suffer with me. Then you will know how to help.”

That is just what God did; He wore my skin in order to solve the dilemma of my debt of sin. He became human flesh, living the life of a common man. He suffered the ultimate price—death—in order to provide the only possible payment that could erase my indebtedness to Him. Amazing!!

Since the children [people] have flesh and blood, he [God] too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil—free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.
Hebrews 2:14-15 NIV

Join me in recognizing the true cost of understanding and providing help to others—"wear their skin". Thank God he wore ours.

Sharing the journey with you,

Bob Snyder
