Impressive

Impressive! The word used for the athletic prowess of a basketball player.
Impressive! The word used to describe a business colleague.

So what impresses me? What impresses you? What impresses Jesus?

Interestingly, people of character and spiritual maturity don't seem to receive the same notoriety of great athletes and businesspeople. When was the last time you heard someone tell with enthusiasm about the wisdom of a grandmother or grandfather? Attributes of prayer, faith and love are not hot topics.

I can too easily be diverted on my journey being impressed by money, power, or status. Even the disciples argued over who would be the greatest—an issue of status had infiltrated the group. Jesus tells them

Anyone who wants to be the first, must be the last, and the servant of all. Mark 9:35 NIV

Sound impressive? Why would I want to impress the world, when I could please the heart of Jesus.

Together, let’s seek Jesus, walk with Him and listen to Him that we might overflow with His character, being last and a servant of all.

Sharing the journey with you,

Bob Snyder
