Submit to authority?

"Bob, please clean your room." I cringed; I did not want to clean my room. Inside I was fighting against my parents’ loving, nurturing and protective authority. I did not like to be told what to do. Sound familiar?

As a follower of Jesus, I have grown in my view of authority. I have realized that authority originates with God. His authority is cloaked in perfect love. Obeying is always to my benefit.

Obedience drives my conduct, but what about my attitude? Where is the joy of obedience with a bad attitude? The writer of Psalm 112 says,
Blessed are those who fear the Lord, who find great delight in his commandsPsalm 112:1
Will you join me in living out the authority of God in attitude and deed this week?

Sharing the journey with you,

Bob Snyder
