My Identity

How I view myself—my identity—is shaped by my early childhood development, education, vocational life, family, church, and ministry. Blessing and heartbreak in each of these areas are intertwined in answering the question, “Who am I?”

Jesus offers me an identity that eclipses all other influences.

  • A new position as His child
How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!
    1 John 3:1

  • An assurance in this new position
Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.
     2 Corinthians 1:21-22

When I lose sight of my identity in Christ and choose a lesser identity, I experience conflict and misery in my heart. Why then should I look anywhere else but in Christ alone?

Will you join me this week in remembering to whom you belong?

Sharing the journey with you,

Bob Snyder
