Reality vs. Delusion
There are days when I actually think that my own good works will satisfy or that more of this and more of that will make my soul content. That is a delusion! To try to satisfy my own soul is “chasing after the wind” (Ecclesiastes 1:14)
Only Jesus satisfies. This is reality!
I can say, “Yes, I know that”. Yet sometimes I find myself living in a delusionary state—looking for more knowledge, more possessions, more of this and that. Yet Isaiah tells me,
Why spend money on what is not bread and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of fare. Give ear and come to me; hear me, that your soul may live. Isaiah 55:2-3 NIV
This week, let us, together, assess the status of our strivings. Are we seeking after that which will truly satisfy our souls or the delusions the world has to offer?
