Learning from Jesus' Questions - Why Is God's Law So Important?

Moses speaking to the children of Israel said,

See, I have taught you decrees and laws as the Lord my God commanded me, so that you may follow them in the land you are entering to take possession of it. Observe them carefully, for this will show your wisdom and understanding to the nations, who will hear about all these decrees and say, "Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people." Deuteronomy 4:5-6 NIV

As a young man, I at times saw God's law as a confining set of rules meant to help me be good. But the reality is just the opposite. God's law is for my good - yielding His best for me.

Isn't it interesting that obeying God brings freedom and abundant living? This is so different from the messages of our society. God says that when people obey the "decrees and laws of the Lord my God," others will notice and observe wisdom and understanding. May it lead them to God Himself!

God's Word serves as a GPS that guides the Way. Will you join me in joyful obedience?

Dear God, help me to learn to love your law. Just as King David, please shape my heart into a heart like Yours, full of wisdom and understanding.

Sharing the journey with you,

Bob Snyder
