Growing in Child-Likeness: Full of Joy and Wonder

The Lord is my strength and shield. I trust Him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving. Psalm 28:7 NLT

I remember the days when almost everything was mysterious and strange and amazing. I trusted people. I was awed by snow and colors and fireworks and riding my bike outside. Little things were incredible to me. I was a child. I wasn't jaded just yet. Wonder, joy, and hope were present in ample measure. But adulthood and responsibilities have had a way of diminishing those wonders. Where did they go?

The Christmas story tells of a young girl filled with wonder and joy when thinking of what God had done for her. Can you hear this in the words of Mary? That joy? That wonder?

Oh, how my soul praises the Lord. How my spirit rejoices in God my Savior! For He took notice of His lowly servant girl and from now on all generations will call me blessed. For the Mighty One is holy, and He has done great things for me. Luke 1:46-49 NLT

Join with me this Christmas season in looking for the child-like joy and wonder around us. Join me in mining the joy of our salvation.

Sharing the journey with you,

Bob Snyder
