Pondering
I must be so carefuI. I find myself filling my mind with stuff that, when pondered, leave me with anxiety, fear or anger. Today’s 24/7 information-filled society is my excuse. Television, the internet and even my smart phone flood my mind with messages. However, as I consider the information that pours over me daily, I realize that much of it is not edifying and at times not truthful.
What to do? Am I destined for a life of anxiety, fear and anger? No, what I choose to ponder matters. Mary the mother of Jesus gives me a model to follow.
But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. Luke 2:19 NIV
The new life of Jesus was a precious thing to Mary and she considered deeply, reflected continuously, and ruminated regularly on her newborn son - her Savior. I am sure her pondering led to thanksgiving, joy and contentment. How I long for that!
Maybe I need to intentionally consider what I am pondering. The results could be peace and contentment – that sounds good. Please join me.
