Why Is It Important To Watch The Whole Movie?

Sometimes I judge a movie by its title, by the opinions of others or by watching a trailer. I never really know the movie, however, until I have actually seen it. Sometimes I find that people make judgements about God the same way - from the title “Christian,” from the opinions of others or from watching snippets of Christians’ lives.
A recent conversation with a waitress is an example.  She had grown up in a “Christian” family but was not following Jesus.  Her mind was filled with negative thoughts and questions. The title “Christianity,” the opinions of others and “trailers” from her life had led her to false conclusions. She needed to see God through Jesus. In fact, Jesus says,
If you really know me, you will know my Father as well.  (John 14:7a NIV)

Jesus is the entire movie - revealing God and His Kingdom, even paying our expensive admission. So my answer to the waitress was, “Please don’t judge Christianity by your family or their actions. And also, don’t judge Christianity by me. Judge Christianity only by Christ.”
God came to earth and became flesh so that we might know Him. Amazing grace so undeserved!

Will you join me in celebrating Jesus this Holy Week?

Sharing the journey with you,

Bob Snyder
