Faith Flags, Faith Stories, and Prayer

Restricted country in Asia - a nurse

Mr. J. came into the hospital grumpy and irritated. He left as a joy-filled man despite his physical challenges. What happened?

“Mr. J. originally had a wound infection on his foot. Being a diabetic the infection spread up into his leg. The only solution? To amputate the lower part of his leg.

Two years later the other leg met with the same fate. A small toe wound was neglected, and the infection spread. With no money for treatment the foot became gangrenous and spread into his leg. Again, the doctors were not able to save it. He was angry and upset saying that even if he had to die, he would not let his [lower] leg be amputated.

Since the day he came, my colleagues and I prayed for him. Each time I changed his wound dressing, I would ask questions about his life. He kept saying that God did not want him to have his leg amputated.

With regular conversation, counselling and encouragement with faith flags and faith stories [two of the Saline Process® witness tools], he became willing to have the operation. We were surprised and relieved. He said Jesus …told him to go ahead with the amputation.

After surgery he recovered in the hospital for two weeks. Multiple times I spoke to him about Jesus. His countenance eventually became joyful and friendly. He would pray along with us, and he read the Bible next to his bed daily. He even made a confession [of faith in Jesus] during his time at the hospital. I thank God for such opportunities that He provides to show His love and compassion which lead to the sharing of the gospel of salvation through Jesus.”

The Mr. J. who came into the hospital was not the same Mr. J. who left the hospital. The “brand new” Mr. J was full of joy and hope. Why? Jesus!
