Giving Policy

This policy exists to provide clarity, transparency, and guidance regarding the acceptance and stewardship of charitable contributions entrusted to the ministry.

Policy Statement

IHS Global™ gratefully accepts a variety of charitable gifts that can be effectively utilized to advance its mission of equipping believers worldwide to live as intentional witnesses for Jesus.

Purpose

This Gift Acceptance Policy establishes guidelines for the acceptance of gifts to protect the interests and intent of donors, ensure alignment with the mission, values, and strategic priorities of IHS Global™, and provide clarity and consistency in gift acceptance practices. This policy also encourages early communication with the Advancement Department regarding planned or complex gifts.

Scope

This policy applies to all gifts made to IHS Global™, including current gifts, deferred gifts, restricted gifts, non-cash gifts, and gifts-in-kind.

Donor Commitment

IHS Global™ is committed to honoring and stewarding every gift with integrity, transparency, and care. Donors can expect:

  • Their gifts will be used to advance the mission and ministry of IHS Global™

  • Their preferences and designations will be honored

  • Clear and timely acknowledgment of all contributions

  • Confidentiality and respect regarding their personal and financial information

  • Honest and accurate communication regarding the impact of their giving

  • The ability to ask questions and receive timely responses

Donor Privacy & Confidentiality

IHS Global™ respects the privacy of its donors and will not sell, share, or distribute donor information to outside parties. All personal and financial information will be handled with the highest level of confidentiality and in accordance with applicable data protection standards.

Gift Acknowledgement & Receipting

All gifts will be acknowledged in a timely manner in accordance with IRS requirements and internal standards. IHS Global™ is committed to providing prompt, accurate, and meaningful acknowledgment of each gift, reflecting both gratitude and stewardship.

General Guidelines

  • All gifts accepted by IHS Global™ will be used to further its mission and ministry objectives.

  • All gifts—cash and non-cash—must be reported to the Advancement Department and acknowledged in accordance with IRS regulations and internal procedures within 72hrs of the gift being received.

  • Donors considering complex, restricted, or planned gifts are encouraged to consult with the Advancement Department prior to finalizing their gift.

  • IHS Global™ does not provide legal, tax, or financial advice. Donors are encouraged to consult their own professional advisors.

Right of Refusal

IHS Global™ reserves the right, through its Executive Team and Board of Directors, to review each proposed gift and to accept or decline any gift that:

  • Is inconsistent with the mission or values of IHS Global™

  • Carries restrictions that cannot be reasonably fulfilled

  • Is difficult to value or administer

  • Creates financial, legal, ethical, or reputational risk

  • Represents an undue administrative or financial burden

Designated & Restricted Gifts

Designated and restricted gifts will be accepted and honored as specified by the donor, provided the restrictions align with the mission, strategic priorities, and operational capacity of IHS Global™. If a designated purpose becomes impracticable or obsolete, IHS Global™ will contact the donor to discuss the situation and suggest an alternative designation.

Funding Options

  • Cash gifts are accepted through the following methods:

    • Online Giving Donations may be made through IHS Global™’s online giving platform using debit card, credit card, PayPal, eCheck, or Google Pay.

    • Checks may be mailed to IHS Global™’s designated mailing address: PO Box 26189, Collegeville, PA 19426.

    • Electronic Transfers, ACH, and wire transfers may be completed upon request. Donors should contact the Advancement Department to obtain transfer instructions. For information regarding wire transfers, please email advancement@ihsglobal.org. All electronic transfer instructions will be provided securely by the Advancement Department.

  • Multi-year pledges are accepted upon receipt of a signed and dated pledge agreement outlining the total amount and anticipated payment schedule.

  • Publicly traded securities may be accepted through direct transfer or via donor-advised funds. Securities are valued at the average of the high and low prices on the date of transfer and are generally liquidated promptly.

  • Gifts of real estate or personal property will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis by IHS Global™ Executive Team and Board of Directors. Donors are responsible for independent appraisals and associated costs. IHS Global™ will accept such gifts only when there is reasonable assurance that no undue financial, legal, or reputational risk will result.

Third Party Facilitated Non-Cash Gifts

IHS Global™ partners with trusted third-party organizations, including the National Christian Foundation (NCF) and The Signatry, to facilitate complex and non-cash gifts such as appreciated securities, business interests, real estate, and other non-liquid assets. These organizations act as intermediary charitable entities that receive, process, liquidate, and distribute proceeds from such gifts to IHS Global™.

    • Donors may initiate gifts directly through their donor-advised fund (DAF) or through IHS Global™’s affiliated accounts with NCF or The Signatry.

    • For gifts of publicly traded securities, donors will work with their financial advisor to transfer assets using provided transfer instructions.

    • Upon receipt, the third-party organization liquidates the asset and distributes proceeds to IHS Global™ in accordance with the donor’s recommendation.

    • All such gifts are considered irrevocable once received by the facilitating organization.

  • All non-cash or complex gifts must be coordinated through the Advancement Department prior to acceptance. The Advancement Department will:

    • Provide donors with the appropriate transfer instructions or forms

    • Coordinate with National Christian Foundation or The Signatry as needed

    • Track the gift through completion

    • Ensure proper acknowledgment and receipting

  • Donors are encouraged to notify IHS Global™ in advance of initiating a transfer to ensure proper tracking and designation of funds.

Planned Giving Options

  • IHS Global™ welcomes bequests through a donor’s will or estate plan. Sample Bequest Language:

    “I give and bequeath to IHS Global™, a nonprofit organization, a ___ percentage of my estate (or $___) for the general purposes of the organization.”

    Unless otherwise restricted, bequest funds will be allocated according to the most pressing ministry priorities at the time the gift is realized.

  • Charitable Gift Annuities may be accepted and administered by IHS Global™. These arrangements provide fixed lifetime payments to donors or beneficiaries, with potential tax advantages. Gift annuities will be accepted only when a minimum 50% charitable remainder is projected.

  • IHS Global™ may be named as the remainder beneficiary of charitable remainder trusts administered by qualified trustees. Trusts may provide fixed or variable income and may be established for life or for a term of years.

  • Gifts of real estate or personal property will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis by IHS Global™ Executive Team and Board of Directors. Donors are responsible for independent appraisals and associated costs. IHS Global™ will accept such gifts only when there is reasonable assurance that no undue financial, legal, or reputational risk will result.

  • Charitable Lead Trusts may be accepted in partnership with an external administering organization. Income from the trust is paid to IHS Global™ for a specified term, with remaining assets reverting to the donor or designated beneficiaries.

Ethical Standards & Compliance

IHS Global™ adheres to ethical fundraising standards and complies with all applicable federal, state, and international regulations. No gift will be accepted that compromises the integrity, independence, or witness of the organization.

Professional Consultation

IHS Global™ may consult with qualified professional advisors when evaluating or processing complex or unusual gifts.

Policy Review & Amendments

This policy will be reviewed periodically by IHS Global™ leadership and may be amended as needed. Final authority for interpretation and application of this policy rests with the Board of Directors. The downloadable PDF of this policy can be found here.
