His Presence

Following Jesus Together

The Lord replied, 'My Presence will go with you…’ Then Moses said to Him

The Lord replied, 'My Presence will go with you…’ Then Moses said to Him 

For thirty years I've been writing lessons I’ve learned on this journey — the detours, the desert stretches, the small mercies along the trail. What I haven't always communicated is that I didn't set out on this journey to find Jesus. He found me, and I joined Him on the journey that He had already planned for me. What I've been recording isn't the story of my search for God, but the story of His presence going with me — through every shift in the emergency department, every hard circumstance, every ordinary Tuesday. 

That's the same promise Moses received and the promise that has lived in my heart over these years. Moses had already seen the burning bush, the plagues, the parted sea, the fire on the mountain — and still he asked for more of God, not less. I also have seen God’s faithfulness in my life. So, on this journey I must keep pressing forward - perseverance, one step in front of the other, always aware of God’s presence with me. Why?  Because holding on to the promise of His presence is enough.

 What if…the reason we feel weary is because we have lost that keen awareness of His presence that fuels our next step on the journey.

 A Short Prayer 

Father, let Your presence go with us. Show us Your glory, however You choose to reveal it, and give us the grace to keep walking with You when the road is rough.
