Establishing the Righteous

"Let the evil of the wicked come to an end, but establish the righteous— you, righteous God, who probe minds and hearts." — Psalm 7:9 NIV

I know this word "probe" from another life — the Emergency Department of the hospital, exploring a wound for debris or foreign material that, if left behind, would fester into infection or result in significant scarring. A good probe has a blunt, rounded tip, designed to search thoroughly without causing further damage. That's exactly the image the psalmist speaks of — God probing my mind and heart, searching for what doesn't belong, what would fester if left behind..

WHAT IF... today we invited God to probe our minds and hearts, and take out the debris before it festers?

Prayer: Righteous God, we invite you to probe our minds and hearts.  Search out what doesn't belong. Remove what would fester if left behind -- all for our good and your glory.
