What is asked of me?
This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: “Cursed is the one who does not obey the terms of this covenant—the terms I commanded your ancestors when I brought them out of Egypt, out of the iron-smelting furnace.” I said, “Obey me and do everything I commanded you, and you will be my people, and I will be your God.” Jeremiah 11:1-4 NIV
When I form an agreement with someone, I can easily focus on their end of the bargain and what I stand to gain from it. Yet this mentality blinds me to my own responsibilities. In order to receive what is mine, I must do what is asked of me.
God’s covenant promises me abundant blessing. And what does he ask in return? Obedience and faithfulness.
Will you join me this week in remembering and obeying our covenant-making God? We stand to gain much when we do what is asked of us.
Sharing the journey with you,
