Pure Joy

My heart longs for joy, contentment, and peace. Sometimes I think I can “achieve” these spiritual fruits on my own. Yet, my feelings fade. Trusting in myself is not the way.

Joy originates in the heart and mind of God. Surrender to Him brings joy. Not easy for me! So often my heart and soul are controlled by my fears and anxieties. Yet the psalmist David says:

But I trust in your unfailing love;
  my heart rejoices in your salvation.
I will sing the Lord’s praise,
  for he has been good to me. Psalm 13:5-6 NIV

How will I know when I am experiencing God’s joy? There will be an overflow from my heart of love, rejoicing, and praise.

Will you join me in continual surrender to our good God who offers us pure joy?
