Strangers in the Land

As I travel to various countries, I enjoy new people, new food and a new culture. Although I enjoy my new surroundings,

• Eventually my taste buds long for home-cooking.
• Eventually I long for family, home, and my own bed.
• Eventually I begin to feel like a stranger.

King David said to God,

For we are strangers before you and sojourners, as all our fathers were. Our days on the earth are like a shadow, and there is no abiding.  I Chronicles 29:15 ESV

Why? Because we are citizens of heaven. We really do not “fit in” on earth.

Yet, there are times when I do not look like a stranger here on earth—when my heart’s attachments are more earthly than heavenly and my taste buds long for
self-satisfaction and man’s approval. I have failed to:

Taste and see that the Lord is good...  Psalm 34:8 NIV

Will you join me in seeking the Kingdom of Heaven… “and the things of earth will
grow strangely dim in the light of his glory and grace.” (From: Turn your Eyes upon Jesus)

Sharing the journey with you,

Bob Snyder
