My Timetable vs. God’s Timetable

A battle wages within me—my timetable versus God's timetable. Time is a big issue with me—being on time, getting it done quickly. And I have my reasons. God's timetable does not usually operate that way. And He has His reasons! At the heart of the issue of timing are the purposes intended.

My timetable is for my gratification. God’s timetable is for His divine purposes. His intent includes transforming me and others. My intent is totally focused on what I think I need.

Martha and Mary learned these lessons of timing when Lazarus died. (John 11:1-44) They both said,

Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.
(John 11: 21, 32 NIV)

Martha and Mary were saying that if Jesus had followed their agenda of timing all would have been well. But He had transformational lessons that could not fit into their timetable—teaching the lessons of life and eternal life through the raising of Lazarus. (John 11:40)

Will you join me in trusting God's timing?

Sharing the journey with you,

Bob Snyder
