God's Handiwork

I was taught to love, care, protect and provide for the weak, the poor and the vulnerable. Why? Because they are weak, poor and vulnerable. Yet if that is my prime motivation, I could end up letting a sense of superiority or pride raise is ugly head. Comparisons tends to breed these thoughts.

Jesus shows me a different perspective. Jesus rebuked the disciples when they tried to protect Him from little children interfering with his day (Matthew 19:14). Why did Jesus love little children and protect them? Not because they were little, weak or vulnerable. Jesus loved the children because they were precious in His sight—His
handiwork created in His image. Paul says,
For we are God’s handiwork…  Ephesians 2:10 NIV

Join me in seeing and loving people the way Jesus sees and loves all of us.
