Sinner I am
Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners--of whom I am the worst. I Timothy 1:15 NIV
One of the great followers of Jesus, Paul, readily identified himself as a sinner—not a thing I easily do. However, when I fail to acknowledge the presence and impact of sin in my life, I suffer. Failure to recognize the reality and power of sin leaves me vulnerable to its ravages. That is why when John the Baptist and then Jesus began their ministries their first message was to repent—not a frequent topic for church discussion.
But thanks be to God for his offer of redemption, mercy and grace. Oh, the joy of the liberty experienced in Christ. Do you remember the old hymn, There is Power in the Blood?
Would you be free from your burden of sin?
There’s power in the blood, power in the blood;
Would you o’er evil a victory win?
There’s wonderful power in the blood.
Join me this week in the freedom from the burden of sin.
