Thanksgiving in Adversity

"God cannot love you more tomorrow than He loves you today." These words were spoken to me by a person in the midst of adversity. One might ask, "How could that be?" God's goodness and love for me encompass both the good and the bad of life. This is so hard for me to "wrap my head around".

The apostle Peter understood this. At the end of his life he realized the value of all God had allowed in his life including the pain and suffering.

In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith - of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire - may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. I Peter 1:6-7 NIV

Can I give thanks in all circumstances? Paul tells me I can, and in fact, it is God's will for me!

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. I Thessalonians 5:16-18 NIV

Will you join me in giving thanks in the difficult circumstances of life as well as the pleasant ones?

Sharing the journey with you,

Bob Snyder
