Devoted or Lukewarm?

Devote yourself to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart. Colossians 4:2 NLT

I ask myself, What does it mean to be devoted - to be "all in"? Is it possible to be a true follower of Jesus and be lukewarm? Believers in the early church were not lukewarm; they were identified by their devotion.

All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord's Supper), and to prayer. Acts 2:42 NLT

To be lukewarm is a serious situation. In a message to the church in Laodicea, the Lord warned them:

But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth. Revelation 3:16 NLT

These words cause me to tremble. Motivated by our deep love for Jesus, will you join me in devotion to Him?

Sharing the journey with you,

Bob Snyder
