A Child of God - What Does That Mean?

Yet to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God. John 1:12 NIV

The reality of this thought empowers me in many ways. I am an heir and joint-heir with Christ (Romans 8:17). I have an inheritance that will never spoil or fade (1 Peter 1:4). When I understand the assurance of God's commitment to me as His child, I can only respond with gratitude, joy, and a life filled...

  • With a purpose to honor and glorify my Father. (Isaiah 43:7, Revelation 4:11)
  • With a goal to be transformed more and more into the image and likeness of His son, Jesus. (Romans 8:29)
  • With a mission to share the love and reality of Jesus with others. (Acts 1:8, John 17:18)

I am grateful to be a child of God, and to be adopted into a family of other believers of brothers and sisters, like you, that make life rich and full. Join me in celebrating the family this week!

Sharing the journey with you,

Bob Snyder
