Letting It Go

Holding on requires letting go. For instance, to pick up my grandson, I must first put down the book that is in my hand. Grasping the things that matter in life requires releasing my grip on the things that don't matter.

This same concept applies to my journey of faith in Jesus in discerning what to let go of and what to grasp. Courage and humility are required. Fortunately, Jesus provided for me the perfect example of letting go. He could only accomplish His mission by letting go of His glory and embracing His role as a servant.

Who being in the very nature of God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped but made Himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.                     Philippians 2:6 NIV

Trying to release my grip on selfish desires is impossible. However,

His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness... 2 Peter 1:3a NIV

Since God has given us everything we need to release our grip, will you join me this week in letting go, so that we can cling to the only One who will give us everything we need?

Sharing the journey with you,

Bob Snyder
