On Christmas Eve day my mother went home to be with the Lord. She was a wonderful mother. Her presence in my life helped to shape who I am today and I am grateful. But mixed with gratitude and joy is that deep, deep sorrow.

God has provided an answer for times such as this - His own people who themselves have known sorrow. I have experienced comfort from my brothers and sisters in Christ which they had received from God in their sorrow. Paul speaks of this sweet exchange of comfort when he says,

All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.  2 Corinthians 1:3-4 NLT

Over the last two weeks, many notes, emails and gracious gestures by God’s family have embraced me with an unexplainable comfort. Through others, God has blessed me with His comfort so that I can, in turn, bless others with that same comfort. Will you join me in passing on the comfort of God to those in need that we meet this week?
