He Chooses the Unexpected
To whom does God turn when He wants to accomplish His work? When I look for a new employee, I consider education, work experience and character. This is a good practice. However, God often chooses the most unexpected people:
- Unsophisticated farmers like Amos,
- Shy, reticent people like Gideon, and
- A prostitute like Rahab.
What is God looking for in the people to accomplish His will? I believe He is looking for a brokenness that births radical obedience leading to a servant's heart.
A brokenness demonstrated by Peter when he said, Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man. (Luke 5:8 NIV)
A radical obedience shown by teenage boys who would not serve or worship the image of Nebuchadnezzar (Daniel 3)
A servanthood shown by the One we claim to follow. But made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in likeness of men. (Philippians 2:7 NIV)
Will you join me this week in embracing our brokenness, choosing to radically obey the One we say we serve and living lives characterized by servanthood?
Sharing the journey with you,
