Teachable Moments on the Journey
Without knowing our destination, any journey becomes a series of wandering trails. Stephen Covey in his book The 7 Habits of Highly Successful People suggests that we must “begin with the end in mind” – so true. T.S. Eliot said, “In my end is my beginning”. I clearly understand the significance of knowing my destination.
My journey with Jesus has a glorious end - home with Him! That journey consists of many small steps filled with teachable moments. Sometimes, however, I miss the point of what Jesus intends for me to learn with each small step.
The disciples missed a teachable moment when they failed to learn the lesson from the feeding of the 5000. As a result, they were filled with fear on the next step of their faith journey – a storm.
But Jesus spoke to them at once. "Don't be afraid," he said. "Take courage! I am here!” Then he climbed into the boat, and the wind stopped. They were totally amazed, for they still didn’t understand the significance of the miracle of the loaves. Their hearts were too hard to take it in. (Mark 6:50-52 NLT)
>When I miss teachable moments that Jesus has intended for me, I get lost and experience fear.
Join me this week in looking for the lessons Jesus has intended for us on our journey with Him.
Sharing the journey with you,
