The War Within — Safety/Security vs. Persecution

Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 5:10 NIV)

There are some in the Christian world who would whisper in my ear, "Living in obedience to God is good, but don't go to extreme, becoming inconvenienced or having to suffer or risking your life." This suggests that avoiding persecution increases the probability of happiness. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Standing firm in the righteousness Christ modeled is the source of joy — present and future.

But rejoice in as much as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed. If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. (I Peter 4:13-14 NIV)

Will you join me in living an authentic life in Christ no matter what!

Sharing the journey with you,

Bob Snyder
