The War Within — World Peace vs. God's Shalom

Blessed are the peacemakers for they will be called the sons of God.
(Matthew 5:9 NIV)

The world whispers in my ear "peace at any price." Songs are sung "give peace a chance." When it comes to peace the false hope that the world holds out fails to bring me the inner peace for which I long.

Jesus was speaking about a different peace — God's peace versus a man-made peace.

Peace I leave you: my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives...
(John 14:27)

The peace that God offers is far more than the absence of conflict. The peace of Jehovah-Shalom is the only source of true peace and can be experienced in the midst of conflict. Marked by His peace and called a son of God, I can now become a peacemaker.

If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.
(Romans 12:18)

Will you join me in walking in the deep peace that God provides?

Sharing the journey with you,

Bob Snyder
