Obedience Yields Blessing

As a third year medical student on the obstetrical service, I spent much time studying childbirth — attending lectures and observing multiple deliveries. Yet knowledge and even observation paled in comparison to the actual hands-on experience. I can still taste the joy of my first delivery of a baby. Knowing is important but doing brings the blessing. One of my wife's favorite sayings is "obedience yields blessing!"

During His last days on earth this idea of obedience yielding blessing was so important that Jesus taught this lesson to the disciples while washing their feet.

Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them. (John 13:17 NIV)

Will you join me in responding to all of Jesus' words by putting them into action this week? There is a blessing waiting.

Sharing the journey with you,

Bob Snyder
