Letting Go of Hurts
What he said about me was not true. . . how can I stop my desire to find revenge? Forgiveness and reconciliation do not come naturally to me. At times, "chewing on the hurts" feels good. However, holding on to hurts erodes my spiritual, emotional, and even physical life, producing anger and resentment – not good for me or those around me.
Why can’t I be more like Jesus – letting go of the wounds others inflict choosing instead to embrace forgiveness and reconciliation? Paul described Jesus and His desire for me,
. . . in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making His appeal through us. . . (2 Corinthians 5:19-20 ESV)
The adhesive glue resulting from forgiveness and reconciliation can actually make a broken relationship stronger if the bond is forged in Christ. Will you join me in being a messenger of reconciliation?
