Triaging Information
Everyday I am bombarded with too much information. Some is helpful to know - the correct antibiotic to treat pneumonia. Some isn't worth knowing - the kind of soap Michael Jordon uses. If you know facts such as that you need to get a life. Some information is actually harmful. For instance, I remember in college when some Christian friends invited me to go to a strip club. When I inquired why they were going, they answered, "We need to know what happens there." I knew I did not need further "education" in this area! At times, the desire to know can be harmful... just ask Eve.
Even Jesus spoke of triaging information – what to know and what not to know. As He taught the disciples, Jesus said certain information was off limits.
It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. (Acts 1:7)
But the things God has revealed to us are not only to be learned, but also to be obeyed and taught to our children.
The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law. (Deut. 29:29)
This week, will you join me in triaging the vast array of information presented to us daily in order to determine the knowledge we should pursue?
Sharing the journey with you,
